How Bybit funding works
Read Bybit funding correctly
Funding passes between longs and shorts at every settlement. On Bybit, contracts settle every 8, 4 or 1 hours, and each has its own cap on a single rate.
Current funding rateThe rate Bybit applies at the next settlement. Positive: longs pay shorts. Negative: shorts pay longs. The bigger the number, the more one side is paying to hold its position.
Settlement intervalBybit lists the interval per contract, and it can change when a market turns volatile. The table reads each contract's current schedule instead of assuming 8 hours.
Annualized*The current rate repeated at every settlement for a year, on that contract's own interval. It makes contracts comparable; it is not a forecast.

What is the Bybit funding rate?
A periodic payment between long and short holders that keeps a perpetual close to the spot price. Most Bybit USDT perpetuals settle every 8 hours, many every 4, and a few every hour. Positive: longs pay shorts. Negative: shorts pay longs. You only pay or receive it if you hold a position at the settlement time.
What does the annualized number mean?
The current rate applied at every settlement for a year, using the contract's own interval, so a 4-hour contract and an 8-hour one can be compared. It assumes the rate never changes, which it will.
Why do some Bybit contracts settle every 4 hours or every hour?
Bybit can shorten a contract's funding interval when its rate reaches the cap or the floor, so the imbalance settles more often. The interval shown next to each rate is that contract's current schedule.
Where does this data come from?
Bybit's public v5 market endpoints for USDT perpetuals, cached for a short window on our side. It is market data, not trading advice, and it needs no Bybit account.
